The Ball Chair was designed in 1963 and debuted at the Cologne Furniture Fair in 1966. The chair is one of the most famous and beloved classics of Finnish design and it was the international breakthrough of Eero Aarnio. The Ball Chair can be found in the collections of design museums around the world and it has starred in several movies, music videos and magazine covers.
Cutting of a part and fixing it at one point Eero Aarnio comes to a remarkable result - an entirely unconventional shaped chair: it is a "room within a room" with a cozy and calm atmosphere, protecting outside noises and giving a private space for relaxing or having a phone call as in a booth. Turning around its own axis on the base the view to the exterior is variable for the user and thus he is not completely excluded from world outside.
Aarnio Ball Chair is made from fiberglass and upholstered with quality fabrics. There are 12 color options to choose from. Made in Finland.
Dimensions: 41W x 38.6D x 47H

Always interested in learning about new ways of manufacturing and seeing, if they are appropriate to realize his ideas in designing - a maximum liberty of formation. So he found the “rotational molding” - a way of working with plastic (in this case MDPE medium density polyethylene) which offers mostly the same possibilities for design as fiberglass, but much cheaper in production getting a high quality product.
