OP Bernard SP4 Chair | Certified Reproduction

The SP4 chair by Oliver Percy Bernard is a descendant of a similar chair with a thinner seat designed in 1928 by Wassily and Hans Luckhardt and used in their home on the Ruppenhorn. Luckhardt's version was initially produced by Desta (Deutsche Stahlmoebel), a company founded by Anton Lorenz in 1929. When the company was liquidated in 1933, all the designs were sold to Thonet who sold this model as the SS33. Another variation of this chair with a single rod in the back, which was attributed to Anton Lorenz, was also produced by Desta and, then, by Thonet. The present SP4 armchair is a reworked design of Luckhardt by Oliver Percy Bernard when he was working with PEL Ltd., London in 1931-33. The SP4 chair armchair with structure in chromed or black painted steel, padded upholstery. A mid century design reproduction by Alivar MVSEVM of Italy. Alivar 185 takes the SP4 design by OP Bernard into a higher level of perfection. Available in leathers and fabric.
