Ball Chair or aka Globe Chair as it's called sometimes, was designed by using one of the most simple geometric forms - the ball. Cutting of a part and fixing it at one point Eero Aarnio comes to a remarkable result - an entirely unconventional shaped chair: it is a "room within a room" with a cozy and calm atmosphere, protecting outside noises and giving a private space for relaxing or having a phone call as in a booth. Turning around its own axis on the base the view to the exterior is variable for the user and thus he is not completely excluded from world outside. Available in frame colors; white, grey, red or black with pads and inserts. Eero Aarnio Original from Finland.
In 1966, the design was presented at the international furniture fair in Cologne. It was the sensation of the event, a unique breakthrough and the start for a whole line of fiberglass designs.
Dimensions: 41W x 38.6D x 47H
Always interested in learning about new ways of manufacturing and seeing, if they are appropriate to realize his ideas in designing - a maximum liberty of formation. So he found the “rotational molding” - a way of working with plastic (in this case MDPE medium density polyethylene) which offers mostly the same possibilities for design as fiberglass, but much cheaper in production getting a high quality product.
