Eileen Gray : Side table in chrome-plated or painted tubular steel. Base and top in medium density with a non-scratch lacquer finish.

Six versions of this small table are known. In all probability, more were made. Some were lacquered while others were done in unpainted plywood. One was veneered. This model was obviously a favorite of Eileen Gray since she placed it in practically every house associated with her name. It appears very conspicuously in the photographs of the main room of E-1027.

Eileen Gray was born in Enniscorthy in Ireland in 1878. She died in Paris in 1976. She was from an emigrant family and attended the Slade School in London, before finally moving to France in 1907. Following an initial experimental period with lacquers, she became increasingly involved in furniture design, and later in architectural projects. Her designs always being highly original and refined.
